Glasgow can be a scary place at the best of times but come Halloween its mental!! Blokes in dresses, women with muscles and just about everybody with face paint on!! I wish I had shares in the company selling this stuff….its everywhere. But down in Audio.. a small venue under the arches of Glasgow Central Station theres something special happening… The Courtesans are in town and the have dressed up for the occasion…boy have they dressed up…or down is more appropriate.

They describe themselves as….

”Music that comes alive in the halflight of the bedroom. Feeding on scents that you know and you long for, undresses you without you knowing it, creeps slowly under your skin as you sleep. In your office, on the train. Skirts and suits fall off leaving just your bare instincts without the armour of labels, forced smiles and formalities that are worn every day. Let yourself go and if you want more – look for The Courtesans. What is our point of difference? We’re live, we’re all girls and we’re not just another chick rock band trying to be men. We are decadent, dark but feminine, underground pop. If you’re all up for some wicked entertainment and untamed, sultry music then click ‘like’. Peace, Love and Music! Courtesans by name and by nature.”

The Courtesan’s debut album ‘1917’ due for imminent release the band play it almost in its entirety ..opening with Scream the ladies make a sultry entrance and show they are a superb band with tight harmonies and excellent musicians. Their current single Genius was always going to be a highlight and didn’t disappoint. This band are all about theatricals and visuals with a strong burlesque element and I would be naive to suggest that’s not what kept the male members of the audience attention transfixed to the stage but aherm!! looking past that they are a damned fine band…

Catch a listen to their debut album ‘1917’ available soon on Itunes
