Psychedelic rock group The Black Angels have just released the video for “Evil Things” from their album Indigo Meadow. The video’s director Kevin Castaheira derives his inspiration from the darkness within a child’s dream. The repetition on the track itself is mirrored by the presence of a menacing black horse in the video.

Fresh from tour the group have been holed up in the studio working on new material and there are lots of festival appearances in the pipeline, most notably; Austin Psych Fest, Sasquatch Festival and Maverick Festival.

Indigo Meadow was Editors’ Choice on iTunes back when it was released in 2013. Associated Press said, “Imagine tossing bands from the pantheon of American psychedelia like The Electric Prunes, Count Five, 13th Floor Elevators and The Seeds into your blender, adding a splash of Sabbath and a dollop of early Soundgarden or Mudhoney, and you’ve got Austin’s The Black Angels”.

Their fourth album stays true to what The Black Angels do best, hypnotic psychedelia. The album has been featured on best of 2013 lists most notably, Rough Trade and Waterloo Records.

Formed in 2004 The Black Angels consist of; Christian Bland – guitar, drone machine/organ; Alex Maas – vocals, bass, organ, drone machine; Stephanie Bailey – drums, percussion; Kyle Hunt – keyboards, percussion, bass, guitar; Jake Garcia – guitar, bass. Their follow-up to 2010’s Phosphene cements their status as a contemporary psychedelic rock group catapulting the 60’s genre into the 21st century.
