Mull Historical Society’s new single “Must You Make Eyes At Me Now” is the latest song taken from the album “City Awakenings”. The song is a burst of noise, taking numerous instruments and throwing them all together. Colin McIntyre’s vocals are really hit and miss on this song for me. While the verses don’t mix well with the music, it seems to come together at the chorus making the song quite catchy, but this is fleeting.

The song chops and changes so much it seems like McIntyre was searching for something that works throughout it, making it sound like a musical experiment rather than a finished, confident piece of work. The lyrics are confusing, the music muddled and the delivery quite weak. With a bit more work it could be something special, but a miss for me.
