Jake Bellows has debuted his critically acclaimed solo album ‘New Ocean’ on CD, LP via Saddle Creek and limited edition cassette. After fronting the legendary Neva Dinova for more than 15 years, during which time Jake completed five full length albums, a split EP, and countless tours, this album charts a new part of Jake Bellows career.
New Ocean is underpinned by philosophical conviction and shaped by an interest in physics, cosmology and mythology. Bellows has returned to music with a renewed sense of the intrinsic value of art and human experience. New Ocean offers up a mix tape of different kinds of songs hanging out on one record – love songs that are not necessarily ballads, and blue-eyed-soul ruptured by fuzz guitar.
The album has already received positive feedback from critics, with Paste commenting “his best work since Neva Dinova’s 2008 high watermark, You May Already be Dreaming.”
Bellows will be touring New Ocean this spring with Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s. The upcoming tour with make stops in major markets including Minneapolis, Seattle, Los Angeles, Austin and more. Additional tour dates, including Jake’s first solo dates on the East Coast, will be announced in the coming weeks.
