DEBUT ‘THIS HOLY FIRE EP’ RELEASED FRIDAY 6 FEBRUARY, SOLD OUT LAUNCH SHOW AT ABC 2 SAME DAY
Glaswegian singer/songwriter Daniel Doherty releases his debut ‘This Holy Fire E.P.’ digitally this Friday 6 Feb and plays a now sold-out ABC 2 the same night.
The four tracker sees the young Belshill man in fine voice – somehow managing to evoke Sin-e era Jeff Buckley, the complex seventies folk guitar-pickery of John Martyn and Nick Drake and more contemporary musicians like Ray Lamontagne, Frank Turner, Damien Rice and Bon Iver yet still managing to sound incredibly unique and otherworldly in his own right.
Four heartfelt and extraordinarily accomplished songs belying, perhaps, his tender twenty two years on the planet.
Battle-hardened by six years of busking and travelling the length and breadth of The UK – no acoustic warbling into a computer for youtube hits for this young man – and most often found singing his heart out in Glasgow’s Buchanan Street finding a firm friend and ally with Passenger’s Mike Rosenberg in so doing, Daniel is starting to win the attention of quite the list of record labels and radio stations in his native Scotland and in London.
The self-taught leftie (always something a bit special about the lefty guitarists) has already played STV Glasgow’s new flagship music show, The Riverside, twice in the last three months, been championed by Xfm’s Jim Gellatly and been brave enough to turn down the opportunity to audition for Britain’s Got Talent, having been headhunted by the show’s producers.
It’s going to be quite the year for this incredible talent. Dates coming (more to be confirmed soon) :
6 Feb : Glasgow ABC (EP launch night) – sold out
30 Mch : Edinburgh Studio 24 (supporting Alabama 3)
