Four years after their first album, indie band Bear Hands are back with a highly anticipated second album ‘Distraction’. The post-punk indie band is making waves within the music industry, playing South by Southwest (SXSW) 2014.

Hailing from New York, Bear Hands consists of Dylan Rau, Val Loper, Ted Feldman and TJ Orscher. After releasing their first album, the Brooklyn quartet toured with Passion Pit and We Were Promised Jetpacks.

Distraction is an excellent follow up to their first album, Burning Bush Supper Club. With a strong pop element amidst the indie theme, the album is self assured and fresh. Vocalist Dylan Rau excels on ‘Giants’, a boisterous punky song with a catchy hook.

The third track ‘Agora’ is an excellent summery of the whole album – smooth, ambient and extremely catchy.  Drummer TJ Orscher makes ‘Agora’ his own with unapologetic beats, giving the song some edge.

With their own tour on the horizon, spanning across the globe, it is hard to believe that Bear Hands are also playing both Coachella 2014 and South by Southwest. A series of film and music festivals held by SXSW takes place this March in Austin, Texas, and is one of the largest music festivals of its kind. With Distraction under their belt, 2014 is going to be a very busy year for Bear Hands.
