Wet Wet Wet have emerged from the annals of pop obscurity among a tribe of others to jump on the current nostalgia band wagon to release a greatest of album Step By Step The Greatest Hits an tour to punt it….Tonight the band arrive in their hometown to play to the new huge venue The Hydro filled with an equally massive audience of now 40 something ladies who would have been teenyboppers when Wet Wet Wet wet at the peak of their career

Special guests tonight and welcomed on stage were Blue who surprisingly have now been together for 14 years….age has now delivered to me a huge kick !! Blue warm up the mainly female audience nicely and make one lady’s year when Antony Costa blue her a kiss.

Wet Wet Wet arrive on stage promptly at 9pm by the loudest screams I have ever heard!! out screaming all of the younger audiences by miles, opening with Run Wet Wet Wet deliver a surprising rocky feel and sees Marti Pellow sporting an impressive lit up mike stand…or light sabre as it looked. Obviously enjoying himself Pellow is happy to take centre stage and soak up the female adoration pored upon himocassionally passing the band leaders baton to the fourth member of Wet Wet Wet Graham Duffin for the occasional guitar solo.. The 21 song set as expected is full of their hits and include Goodnight Girl, Wishing I Was Lucky, Sweet Little Mystery, With A Little Help From My Friends and Angel Eyes to name a few.. Matri Pellow despite his troubled past has lost none of charisma and can certainly still hold a note although most of the time the audience done the singing for him…The night concludes with their biggest hit and ironically a cover version Love Is All Around …perfection is what the audience wanted and to be taken back to their youth which indeed is what Wet Wet Wet delivered…a slick professional performance which the band seem to enjoy but none more so the Marti Pellow…
