Legendary rock guitarist Joe Satriani is currently entertaining his UK fans on his Shockwave November 2015 UK Tour, tonight he brings the amazing show to the music metropolis that is Glasgow…famous for its live venues and even livelier audiences!!

Satriani has a pretty impressive rock pedigree working with the likes of Mick Jagger, Deep Purple and Chickenfoot also having collaborated with the likes of Vai, LaLonde, Timmons, Steve Lukather, John Petrucci, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, Brian May, Patrick Rondat, Paul Gilbert, Adrian Legg, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Steve Morse and Robert Fripp.

On a personal note I’m approaching this gig as a Satriani virgin, having never really experienced his music or any of his legendary live shows so this will be a real first.

Special guest for the tour is South African guitarist Dan Patlansky who with his band converts the sterile atmosphere of the Royal Concert Hall into a proper rock gig, Dan’s playing is simply stunning reminiscent to Hendrix and receiving a reception from the appreciative audience that any main act would be pleased to get.

At 8:30 prompt the house lights dim and some stunning visuals welcome Joe Satriani and his band on stage who open with ‘Shockwave Supernova’ from the same titled 2015 album. Immediately this venue comes into its own…. the acoustics of the building allow you to experience every note…every instrument in all their glory and the hairs on the back of my neck are now on end!! From the absolute perfection of ‘ On Peregrine Wings’ to the thunderous demonic tones of the brilliant ‘Cataclysmic’ and the sheer beauty of ‘Butterfly and Zebra’ …Satriani through the power and precision of his guitar playing backed with some impressive visuals takes you on a musical journey you’ll never forget.

Not forgetting his band of course Marco Minneman holding it all together on drums, Bryan Beller providing the bottom notes on bass and a man every bit as important and taking centre stage often Mike Keneally on guitars and keyboards.

This was a truly stunning show and I’m proud to announce I’m no longer a Satriani virgin!!!
