If a certain lager producer did entrances Fall Out Boy’s arrival on stage at the massive Hydro in Glasgow must be one of them!! The massive curtain shrouded the stage became illuminated with bright white light and strobes as the opening orchestral score of The Phoenix blasted through the mega to be dropped to reveal the masked members of Fall Out Boy…spine tingling stuff!! This was the final date of their Save Rock and Roll tour and it was obvious from the outset it was going to be special. The crowd hardly had time to catch their breath when FOB treat them to a stunning rendition of I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me (winner of the longest title for a song!!)
This Aint A Scene, Its An Arms Race see’s the huge crowd raise the roof of the space ship like venue.
Fall Out Boy whip the crowd into a frenzy with MJ’s Beat It before a three set acoustic section that reduces the momentum slightly…not sure why they inserted an acoustic section as the crowd attention slumps which is quite ironic as the first song is Sophomore Slump Or Comeback Of The Year thankfully they comeback with the excellent Dance Dance. FOB open the mandatory encore with the closest thing they have to a ballad the epic Save Rock and Roll and conclude the electrifying set and the tour in fine form with Saturday…
Fall Out Boy have a good rapport with the crowd managing to make this massive auditorium that little bit more intimate…maybe the guys were happy to be at the end of a tour and looking forward to going home but it looked to me as if they were really enjoying the gig making it special for the mass of fans gathered to pay homage to this excellent band…9/10
