The opening bars of Charge thundered through the massive pa in the cavernous Hydro and the impressive light show filled this musical cathedral with light illuminating the inner bones of the structure, Elbow led by the bearded Guy Garvey…an unlikely pop star who politely bows and receives the adoration of the huge crowd. Mercury Prize winning Elbow are on a high with the chart topping success of their sixth studio album The Take Off And Landing Of Everything the sequel to the highly acclaimed Build A Rocket Boys.
During The Bones Of You Garvey strolls down the centre walkway to greet his adoring public in true pop star style only with grace and grandeur.
The huge crowd are treated to a set of new songs and all the old favourite including Fly Boy Blue / Lunnette, New York Morning and The Night Will Always Win from the new album acoustic versions of Great Expectations and The Blanket Of Night played on the small stage set up at the end of the walkway and concluding with One Day Like This
