Following their meteoric rise to fame Scottish band CHVRCHES play a sold out two night stint at Glasgow most iconic venue…The Barrowland Ballroom or affectionately know locally as The Barras.
Ahead of the gigs the band announced the release of their new single ‘Get Away’ on 8 December via Virgin Records / Goodbye Records. ‘Get Away’ is the band’s first new song since 2013’s critically acclaimed gold-selling debut album ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’. It was written for Radio 1 Rescores: Drive – DJ Zane Lowe’s reimagining of Nicholas Winding Refn’s soundtrack for the cult movie Drive, starring Ryan Gosling. The re-scored film will be shown on BBC Three tonight, 30 October. SBTRKT, Banks and the 1975 also feature.
A larger than life ‘Lizzo” gave an great energetic performance involving a lucky male member of the audience and some twerking to open for CHVRCHES and in returned almost earned an encore from the appreciative crowd …
CHVRCHES are welcomed onstage by rapturous applause which is received by singer Lauren Mayberry … A pretty impressive lightshow supports a set almost entirely made up from songs from their debut album ‘The Bones Of What You Believe the new single ‘Get Away’ receiving an airing mid set. Concluding with ‘The Mother We Share’ CHVRCHES return to an encore with ‘You Caught The Light” and another new song ‘Dead Air’ then finishing with ‘By The Throat’
Formed only two years ago and already selling out two nights at The Barras where do the go from here….The Hydro?
