Foals were in town and had been sold out for weeks but unlike the majority of the punters I was there to catch the support Kentucky band Cage The Elephant…Cage the Elephant is an American rock band from Bowling Green, Kentucky, that formed in 2006. The band’s first album, Cage the Elephant, was released in 2008 to much success, spawning several successful radio singles and gained the band a large following in both the United States and the United Kingdom. They are well known for their highly energetic live shows so I was really looking forward to this.

Cage The Elephant arrived on staged to a fairly rammed venue and made an explosive opening with Spiderhead from the latest album Melophobia and immediately were a massive hit with the Foals fans with singer Matthew Shultz making a pretty damn good impression of a young Iggy Pop During Aberdeen Shultz decided to take a swim into the audience …absolute mayhem as the pit staff scramble to the maniac singer safe!!! Take It Or Leave It see’s a slight respite in the craziness but not for long as the band perform probably their biggest and well known hit Aint No Rest For The Wicked and iggy look alike is off again…brilliant The distorted bass line of Sabretooth Tiger rattles through the very loud PA and the strobe lighting marks Cage The Elephant’s last song and exit from the stage and leaves most people gobsmacked at this bands amazing performance…. Forget Foals I was ready to go home…. I hope they come back soon.
